In what was either the second last or final game of year 2008, Unknowns racked up its 4th consecutive win to end the year on a high.
The game was held on a slick and smooth artificial pitch at the First Toa Payoh Sec, and was only the second time Unknowns have played on such a turf this year. However, the Unknowns didn't take much time to settle down and adapt, and were soon dictating the tempo of the game.
Top scorer Zhenrong was a notable absentee, which left Unknowns with just one regular striker Jianhua up front and thus Unknowns opted for a 4-5-1 formation that fluidly turned into 4-3-3 on the attack.
In the 15th minute, Jianhua drifted wide to the left and sent in a delightful cross for Apple. With the goal at his mercy, the opposing centreback made a last ditch attempt to prevent the shot with his arm. The referee pointed to the spot after some hesitation, but there was no hesitation at all on the part of Botak, who coolly stepped up and sent the keeper the wrong way.
Not long after, marauding left-back Leslie made another of his trademark lung-bursting forays down the left flank to create all sorts of confusion in the opposing backline. Amidst the melee, he smashed home his seventh goal of the season, an outstanding return for a guy who usually plays in defence.
Unknowns continued to probe for opportunities and went 3-0 up early in the second half. Recent signing Cheekeong pumped a superb long ball up front and a lurking Gabriel beat the offside trap and nonchalantly lobbed his shot over the keeper for a superb finish.
The opposing team did manage to pull one back through a searing free kick.
Chee Keong capped off a superb performance with a stunning long range effort in the final few minutes.
With players returning from injuries and a healthy squad, Unknowns are wrapping up the season with some style.

Unknowns demolishes nemesis FC Bayern
On Sunday morning, Unknowns demolished nemesis FC Bayern 5-2.
Top scorer Zhenrong found the net in what was possibly the fastest goal of the season, within less than 10 seconds of kickoff.
Midfield hardman Becky found the net twice with two sweetly executed long range efforts.
Striker Yuanji swept the ball home from close range after some good down the flank from Botak, who was making his comeback from injuries. Botak zoomed down the right channel and cut the ball back superbly for Yuanji who made no mistake.
Botak rounded up the convincing victory with a delicate lob over the keeper from at least 20 metres out.

Short Handed United hit for six
The undermanned unknowns, missing a slew of regular players such as Zhenrong, Botak, Leslie, Vincent, Alvin, Shiwen, Gabby, fell to a 2-6 defeat on Sunday.
Playing with just ten men whole day and even being reduced to nine for periods in the game, the Unknowns battled hard, but the opponents made sure their numerical superiority counted.

Unknown wins 5-0 with a team performance
Espn Soccernet Goal of the week contenders.
Goal A.
From near the halfway line, Hanwei threaded a precise through ball down the left channel for Jianhua, who floats in a remarkably good left-footed cross to the far right where Yuanji was lurking. Yuanji brilliantly cuts the ball back for hat-trick hero Zhenrong who cheekily backheels it in from close range. Truly a wonderful team effort!!!!!
Goal B.
A superb long ball from Apple found a lurking Jianhua who beat the offside trap to fire home calmly. A classic brotherhood goal. They've been doing it for the past ten years and can probably find each other with their eyes closed!!!!!
Goal C.
A marauding Hanwei barged brutally past the hapless opposition defence, brushing aside challenges with his crude strength before firing an unstoppable dipper. Truly a brilliant individual effort!!!!!
Goal D.
Munhoe breaks down the left flank to float in a superb pinpoint cross for Zhenrong who makes no mistake with his bullet header. A rare headed goal for the Unknowns!!!!!

Unknowns lose 2-3 at Northview Sec.
Remarks:
Main culprit for the loss was defender Tinky. He had a torrid game and was at fault for all the three goals conceded.

Unknowns draw at Woodgrove
Unknowns fought out a 1-1 draw at Woodgrove Sec this morning, against a team of foreign talents.
The opponents drew first blood in as early as the first minute, when their lanky striker chested down a long ball and volleyed viciously from outside the penalty area. It was a quality strike that the Unknowns could do little about.
Having taken the lead, the opponents opted for a more pragmatic approach, coupled with a no-nonsense style that saw them commit several hard fouls. One of these ruthless fouls felled star striker Zhenrong in the tenth minute, meaning he would take no further part in the first half.
The second half opening was a replica of the first half. Unknowns scored after kickoff when a few neat exchanges ended with Jian Hua lobbing the keeper for a delightful equaliser.
Buoyed by the goal, Unknowns started to up the tempo and the opponents were pegged back in their own half for long periods in the game. A freekick by Botak just outside the box flew agonizingly just wide and another freekick by winger Jason just missed by a couple of inches.
Sherman was the next victim of the opponent's rough house tactics, and after the game, Unknowns increasingly lengthy "walking wounded" list added Jianhua as well (groin injury).
The opponents would also do well to send an early Christmas card to the referee, who dubiously turned down a ridiculous number of clear cut corners and back passes in their favour.
The nervy opponents resorted to desperate clearances in the final 20 minutes but the Unknowns failed to capitalise.
Final score 1-1.

Latest News
News just filtered in that the Unknowns pulled off a miraculous comeback win at Northview Secondary this morning.
Battling with only 8 men all day, Unknowns went down 2-0 in the first half to a team comprising of mainly Myanmarese players, but somehow managed to score 4 goals in the second half for an amazing victory.
According to sources, midfielder Botak went into goal and pulled off a few fine saves. Andy, Alvin, Leslie, Apple, Hanwei, Sherman, Jianhua were the other seven players that ran circles around the opposing team of eleven. Leslie, Sherman and Hanwei (2 goals) were the goalscorers.
Hanwei was sent off in the second half for retaliation after being spat at by an opposing player.
Perhaps someone present on the pitch would like to post a full report on this game?

Unknowns triumph in mudbath stadium.
A superb injury-time goal by pacy leftback Leslie marked unknowns' first win in 5 games, and brought huge smiles back all round.
Unknowns had fallen behind early in the game, but Apple's jawdropping through ball from defence found Jianhua, who sprang free of the offside trap to fire Unknowns back onto level terms.
Although conditions weren't exactly ideal for free-flowing football, both sides managed to create plenty of chances. The midfield quartet of Jason, Gabby, Hanwei and Botak worked tirelessly to create chances. JianHua could easily have had 3 more goals but was denied twice by the post, and once by the mud. His shot had beaten the keeper and seem destined for goal but as fate would have it, his shot cruelly stopped short of crossing the line as the ball found itself stuck into a puddle of mud. Goalie Jais, playing as an emergency striker, had a few good chances and was unlucky not to get onto the scoresheet. Yingjie made a rare appearance in between the posts and looked as though he never been away, pulling off a couple of great saves.
The game seems headed for a tie, until Leslie dug deep into his stamina reserves for one final lung-bursting foray upfront to settle the issue.
Notes
*Unknowns dedicate this win to Zijie.
*Shaiful made a good full debut for the Unknowns, fitting in comfortably at centreback alongside captain Apple, who was in his usual colossus form.
*Unknowns had only 11 men in the squad, and were reduced to 10 and sometimes 9 men after Yingjie, Leslie and Tinky suffered a variety of bone-crushing challenges and cramps.
*Mud bath is good for the skin- Gabby
*Lunch seems especially delicious today- Jianhua
*The sequence continues: 1-5, 1-4, 1-2, 1-1, 2-1, ___. What will be the next scoreline?

Unknowns halts losing run.
Slowly but surely, the Unknowns are improving and returning to form.
A hard fought 1-1 draw against FC Bayern Munich was the first point that the Unknowns secured in four matches.
Leslie opened the scoring with a magnificent lob from 40 yards out, which he later humbly admitted in the press conference that it was a cross that he intended to swing in.
The opponents pulled one back late in the game from a header via a corner.
Judging from the recent upward trend, 1-5, 1-4, 1-2, 1-1, the scoreline might well be 1-0 in favour of unknowns next week. Fingers crossed.

Unknowns spanked =)
Unknowns were on the unfortunate end of a 1-5 stuffing by A.C Milano last Sunday.
A squad reduced to the bare bones, coupled with bad luck in front of goal and some woeful refereeing meant Unknowns went down with one of their heavier defeats in recent memory. However, take no credit away from the opposition as they played brilliantly and capitalised on their chances.
With only 11 players available on the day and having played much of the match with just 10 players. Unknowns looked jaded and fatigued and succumbed to a robust and pacy A.C Milano side with plenty of fresh legs to rotate around.
Amongst the various walking wounded in the Unknowns side were central defender Vincent who was still nursing an injury but bravely elected to hobble onto the field and played bits and parts of the game. Others carrying unjuries were defensive midfielder Becky, full back Tinky, and quite possibly a few more.
With such a patched up squad, Unknowns simply had no answer to the sheer pace and power of AC Milano's forwards, who time and again exploited the Unknowns defence ruthlessly to go 5-0 up by 80 minutes gone by.
In the dying minutes of the game, Winger Jason pulled one back with a screamer. In what was estimated to be at least 30-40 metres out on the far left, he unleashed his deadly left boot and scored what is fast becoming knowns as a trademark "Jason" goal. Though the scoreline remained embarassing, it did cheer up and put a smile back on faces of unknowns players.
In the final play of the game, Unknowns won a penalty. The team unanimously elected Vincent to take the spot kick in recognition of his selflessness to play even with an injury. He missed, but it didn't matter.
It may have been a bad defeat, but teams are entitled to off days once in a while. What matters is how the team bounce back. We await and watch with bated breath.

Once again, thanks to our goalie Jais for a great weekly match report
Unknowns 2-0 Brazil (Over-23 Select)
Unknowns clinch massive win.
After last weekend's disappointing defeat at bendeemeer, Unknowns bounced back with an impressive win at Mayflower Stadium.
Determine to prove that last weeks result was fluke, Unknowns turn up several notches to beat the opponents convincingly.
Unknowns arrived at the stadium later than usual, only to find a full squad of the Brazilians "Oldsters" already warming up. Just the kind of team Unknowns love to beat.
First half was a tight affair, with only 2 important moments of note. First was a good team play which resulted in Zhenrong taking a snap shot which went agonisingly wide. Second was a deflected shot that looked like dipping into Unknowns' goal, only for gaolie Jais to claw it away with a flying save.
Second half saw the Brazilians melting under the sweltering heat, and Unknowns began to take control. Breakthrough came in the second half, when the Unknowns, leading my Kevin upfront, pressed the opponents aggressively and forced a mistake between the defender and goalie, with the later drawn out of his area to collect a bad pass from the defender. Seizing on the opportunity, Top-Scorer Zhenrong swooped in to lift the loose ball over the whole defence into the goal to give unknowns the all important lead.
The brazilians began to pour foward, only to find the defensive wall of Leslie, Alvin, Andy and Yuanji/Sherman unbeatable and well marshalled. With such strong defence as basis, Unknowns countered with pace and were rewarded with the game killing goal. Good play down the right resulted in the ball being played to Zhenrong out wide, who threaded a pass to the on rushing Apple to rifle a shot in. Though the initial effort was saved by the keeper, he reacted to slam the rebound home.
Unknowns later stayed firm and held on for a valuable win, not only to proved last week's critics wrong, but also half a run of 5 games without a win (4 draws 1 lost).
Man of the match: Zhenrong - Scored one and made the other. Conbined well with kevin to constantly press the opponents into errors.
Moan of the match: Becky - After the ealy season full of twist and turn and blitz of goals, the midfield marshaller has dipped in form, and has even been fined recently for turning up for matches VERY late. Gotta buck up and find your form Becky!

Match Report By JAIS!
Unknowns Held by Hole-Lans FC
Unknowns 2-2 Hole-Lans FC
Unknowns United's title charged got somewhat derailed slightly with their 3rd Straight draw.
As usual, Unknowns started the game brightly, with the return of Top Marksman Zhenrong boosting the team ahead of kick off. However, the game was slighly shadowed by the late-coming of midfielder Becky, who was promptly left on the bench as punishment.
However, it was Deja Vu again, as the Hole-Lans took the lead. Off a thrown in 25 yards from goal, the opposing striker pick up the ball, found the the players sleeping around him, and sent a stiff grounder that whistled into the goal for an unlikely lead.
15 mins later, Unknowns equalised. After some enterprising play in the middle of the park, a beautiful through ball was relayed to Json to send him through on goal. Json, who took Becky's place in the centre midfield area, first appeared to have lost the shooting chance after pushing the ball wide, but he recovered a force a powerful grounder that sneak in via the near post for the equaliser, and move ahead of Becky in the scoring charts.
Just before half time, it almost went to waste, as an attempt to catch the opponents offside from a freekick went awry, and a striker smeaked in to tap the ball towards goal. Fortunately, goalie Jais was on hand to pull off a point blank save from that. Though the rebound was put in by another striker, the referee ruled that he had been offside.
In the second half, another failed attempt to catch the opponents offside went horribly wrong, as the striker beat the offside trap contraversially, to round Jais and tap home from a tight angle to give Hole-Lans the lead.
Hole-Lans almost increased the lead when a corner routine found their uncle left back in acres of space to head towards goal, only to be denied by a combination of the Jais save and Shiwen's header away. The rebound was then parried away by Jais again to let the unknowns off the hook.
Seeing the luck on their side, Unknowns pushed foward and duly got their reward. A smart dummy by the offside Sherman to the over lapping botak send the latter running through down the by-line. Botak then had the composure to accurately pick out the on-rushing Zhenrong to tap in from approximately 5cm out. 2-2.
Both teams were exhausted by then and played out till full time for the 2-2 draw.
Moment of controversy: Botak being hit in the face by the opponent in the first half. Although it clearly was intentional and melicious, the coward referee only gave a yellow card. Had this been in the EPL, the offender would either a) Get a straight red, or b) Get a broken neck in the next tackle.
Man of the match: Botak- For his good runs an a gd assist amid a less than convincing performances from the rest of the lads.

Match Report By JAIS
Unknowns 2 - 2 Sinchi FC
Unknowns Clinched Yet Another Comeback.
Unknowns United has bagged another amazing comeback in the latest BSPL game.
Missing leading goalscorer Zhenrong "Villa", Unknowns still boasted a strong team with good turn-out.
The game began in high tempo with the unknowns probing the Sinchi backline. They knew fully well that this was the very same team that they had drawn 4-4 with previously, but this time, the opponents are without their top scorer through suspension.
Unknowns attacked with loads of vigour, with Becky having an inspired game in the middle, but just could not find the finishing touch or pass. It was to come back to haunt them. Sinchi won a corner off a rare counter attack, and from that, the ball was played back to their left midfilder out wide, who swung in a teasing cross-cum-shot, which managed to sail over goalie jais into the net off the cross bar, Unknowns down 0-1.
Unknowns continue to press on for their well-deserved goal, but it was not to be. A long ball off another Sinchi counter caught the Unknowns defence off-guard, and the lively malay striker took the chance to pounce and stab the ball in goal for a 2-0 lead at half time!
Unknowns turn up for the 2nd half full of confidence, knowning that they have an outstanding record of come back in games. How true it was to be. Second half new signing Vincent Lee sent in several testing crosses which the opponents bearing delt with, and afew gd runs were call offside by the referee.
Sensing that the opponents right side of defence was the weak link, unknowns laid seige doen the left. It wasn't long before it paid dividends. Good inter-passing on the flank between json, jianhua and yuanji resultant in a wicked low cross across the oponents goal. In came Sherman, who dashed acorss to the near post from the other flank, to poke the ball home from close range in true Freddie Ljungberg style!
Seeing tangible results, unknowns continue to bombard the left flank and brought them the equalizer. A long punt from Alvin down the inside left caught out the Sinchi right back and center back out, and Leslie, who was having a phenomenal game tormanting the opponents flank, ghosted in from nowhere to flick the ball beautifully over the on-rushing goalie for a well-crafted equalizer!
While pressing for a winner, Unknowns' Botak gave the ball away numerous times in dangerous zones of the pitch, but thankfully, all it resulted in was nothing more than scares, as the defence held firm. A blitch off a otherwise energetic performance from Botak. Goalie jais added more than bits of cameo with a couple of saves late on to keep it status-quo.
After the game, team manager Jianhua commented:"I obviously felt that we derserved to win the game, but given that we were 2-0 down at half time, i'll glading take the point earned."
Quote of the day-Andy:"Next time we just tell referee to give our opponent a 2-0 headstart lah!"
Man of the match- Leslie: Glided down the left flank with lots of purpose and tenacity, and even capped off a fine performance with a goal.

Unknowns 1-1 Fc Retards
Unknowns drew 1-1 with FC Retards this morning at punggol sec.
2 weeks ago, Unknowns recorded a come from behind 3-2 win over the same team. Knowing that they could not win if they relied on skill, the retards resorted to foul play.
The retards arrived at the pitch not to play football but with the sole purpose of taking out opponents' legs. The vision-challenged referee turned a blind eye to the retards nasty challenges.
Star striker Zhenrong coolly converted a penalty in the first half to give Unknowns the lead. Retards somehow managed to score a retarded goal.
Game ended 1 apiece.

Match report by Jais!
Unknowns Sink FC Bayern Singapura
In last Sunday's morning match, Unknowns United took a giant step towards the league title with an exciting 3-2 against the FC Bayern Singapura.
The Unknowns came into the match missing a large chunk of the regulars, like midfield "Marshaller"(Where did that come from?) Becky, "throw-in specialist" Tinky, "Better late than never" Andy, "Iron Head" Alvin and "Midfield Shipper" Gabby, all missing due to off-field commitments.
The game began with both teams cancelling each other out, especially in midfield, where Json and Botak did a good job in slugging it out on the bald centre circle. The breakthrough came when a "turn-and-turn" move by botak drawn a challenge from a defender and send him tumbling down in a heap. After consultaion with the linesman, the referee ruled that the infringment was inside the box and a penalty was awarded without much fanfare. Up stepped Zhenrong to send the keeper the wrong way cleverly, despite the goalie's best effort to outwit him.
The rest of the half continued with The Unknowns having the upperhand, taking advantage of the clumsy-ness of FCBS's self-proclaimed "captain" to launch several marauding attacks that they managed to absorb.
The second half began with traffic still flowing the same direction, with the unknowns attack creating all sorts of trouble for FCBS's defence. However, FCBS got the equaliser against the run of play. A moment of hesitation to shoot just outside the opponent's box resulted in the ball being lost and FCBS launched a lightning quick counter attack which ended with their striker "tonjol-ing" a rocket which flew past Goalie Jais into the top corner.
Bouyed by the goal, FCBS step on the pedal and created more threatening moves, and one of them led to their 2nd Goal. a innocuous cross crom the left wing caught goalie Jais in no man's land and the ball bounced into the goal in the malee that ensued.
At this point of time, the opponents grew desperate for the win, and the disillusioned FCBS "captain" cried out "2-1! we defend! we defend!" to incite a negative mentality in his team. It obviously didn't work, and unknowns hit back with devastating effect.
Striker Zhenrong, fresh from signing a new sponsorship deal with Reebok, equalised quickly. Sporting a flashy golden boot by Reebok, he controlled a cross from the left, twisted his marker inside out before sending a screamer that flew into the top corner and drop his name into the mix for the "Goal-of-the-season" prize. This is especially sweet as he already has another nomintaion for "miss-of-the-season" chalked up in the first half.
This shattered FCBS's game plan and Unknowns moved in for the kill. A long ball found Jianhua going towards the left corner flag and seemed to be with no way to go. However, he then shimmied his marker at the by-line before sending in a premiership quality, "touch me and it's a goal" ball into the near post, where, as the script would have it, his brother Apple arrived from nowhere to sweep it home to complete an astonishing comback, 3-2!
In between the 2 goals, goalie Jais had to pull of a smart save down his right. However, in injury time, a cross from the left was met by a clashing challenge between Botak and the opponent, resulting in a handball by Botak in his own box. A harsh penalty was given, especially since it seemed to be a "ball-to-hand" situation.
Just when a striker picked up the ball to take the resultant penalty, their self-proclaimed "captain" barged through and volunteered to take it himself. However, his attempt to fake goalie Jais was outsmarted as Jais flew superbly to his left and beat the goalbound effort away to save Botak's blushes, and ensure victory for Unknowns in that last piece of action of the game. Unknowns victorious 3-2!

Unknowns triumph in exhilarating top of the table clash.
On this Sunday's top of the table clash, Unknowns United defeated Choa Chu Kang FC 2-1 at Punggol Secondary this morning, in what proved to be a breathtaking fast-paced football match.
In the process, Unknowns dealt a devastating blow to CCK FC's own title hopes, having done the "double" over them with a 1-0 victory at their home ground earlier this season.
Both sides flew out of the blocks and played some fast and furious football, CCK FC's Malay contingent displayed some nimble footwork, but Unknowns were equal to the task and defended resolutely while countering with some quick passing movement.
The backline, marshalled by goalkeeper Jais, held firm. Vincent, Apple, Leslie and Alvin stood stoutly in front of Jais to absorb everything that CCK threw at them.
In the 30th minute, CCK FC took the lead through a piece of individual brilliance that the Unknowns could do nothing about-A thunderbolt from 25 metres that pierced the net.
A goal down, Unknowns quickly stepped up their game and within minutes were back on level terms. Sherman released a through ball down the right flank that initially appeared to be travelling slightly too fast and out of the reach of Botak.
But Botak summoned all of his pace and swung in a wickedly deceptive low cross that squirmed through the legs of CCK keeper in a classic "Massimo Taibi" re-enactment. Unknowns leading scorer Jian Hua was waiting patiently at the far post and gobbled up this early christmas gift with a simple tap-in for his eighth goal of the season.
The second half was pretty much the same, both teams probing and trying to find an opening. It finally came when Sherman found himself one V one with the lanky keeper. His initial chip was parried by the keeper but it fell back onto the path of Sherman, who drove the ball into the back of the net for a sweet finish. 2-1
It was nervy stuff now. CCK FC desperately tried to salvage a draw in order to keep their title ambitions alive and relentlessly pressed their men forward in search of an equaliser. Unknowns backfour were now without captain Apple and saw right-back Alvin shoved to the middle but the makeshift backfour defended resolutely and sometimes haphazardly but in the end it all didn't matter as the scoreline remained status quo.

Yishun Wanderers hammered
Yishun Wanderers 0
Unknowns United 4
Relegation battlers Yishun Wanderers provided futile resistance against league frontrunners Unknowns United, who were looking to bounce back from a surprise defeat last week.
Unknowns came out firing on all cylinders as they knew they had to win this game to keep their title challengers at bay. And as early as the fifth minute, Unknowns took a well-deserved lead.
Prodigious forward Sherman, back in the squad after several weeks of absence due to National Service, showed no signs of rustiness by pouncing on a through ball and stabbing it past the keeper for an early lead.
Long serving veteran winger Botak, hampered by injuries and, some say, extra kilos recently, turned back the years with a lively performance. He also capped it off by scoring the second goal. Raiding down the right flank, he twisted and turned and sidestepped his way through a bewildered defence to score his first goal of 2008.
A freekick was won late in the first half and up stepped Jais. A goalkeeper by trade, he curled the ball expertly past the opposition wall and into the goal, hitting the far post before it went in. Screams of "Chilavert" were distinctly heard from the neighbouring flats around the pitch.
After half time, Unknowns continued to dominate and were rewarded with a fourth goal when midfielder Becky hit his sixth goal of the season with his trademark Frank Lampah long range shot. It was almost an exact replica of the ones he scored before: Outside the box, twenty five-thirty metres away from goal, hammer, top corner, there you have it. 4-0.
On the defensive end, the unknowns backline rarely gave away anything and earned their fifth clean sheet of the season. While Unknowns are well-known for their lethal offense and goalscoring exploits, the unsung heroes from the defensive end usually don't get alot of the mention and praise that they probably deserve. Goalie Yingjie provided a pair of safe hands in between the posts, and was superbly aided by the likes of defensive lynchpin Andy, rock solid stopper Roy, towering defender Vincent and lightning quick fullback Alvin. The tireless midfielders were also consistently hardworking in tracking back to help out the defence once the ball was lost.
All in all, tlthough the opponents were not exactly top-notch quality, it was nevertheless a morale boosting performance.
Meanwhile, Unknowns will miss at least three players for this week's game. This could prove be a stern test of their title credentials. Stay tuned
*Controversial event: Becky was cautioned during the match for spewing vulgarities... at his own team mate!*
Meanwhile, while basking in the glory of being on the winning team, unknowns do have a column titled:
*Spare a thought for the opposing goalie*
Having let in four goals, the poor chap was roundly critisized by his own team mates and had to suffer the ignomity of being replaced by his unappreciative teammates.

Unknowns strive for win
Unknowns look to maintain their league position with a win at Compassvale tomorrow morning.
This match takes on added significance following the wedding of Unknowns defender Vincent. A rock at the heart of the defence, the towering defender celebrated his wedding on Friday and the squad is desperate for a win to add further joy to this marvellous occasion.

Unknowns launch another comeback victory
Unknowns pulled off yet another remarkable victory this morning, coming back from a goal down to defeat their opponents 3-1.
Unknowns clashed again with the same team that they lost 1-0 two weeks ago, and were determined to set things right this time. However, it was by no means an easy task as the opponents tried to frustrate the Unknowns with some rough house tactics. In the 20th minute, unknowns found themselves a goal down no thanks to some hard luck, when an inswinging corner somehow sailed its way into the goal.
After the break, Unknowns came out with renewed vigour but still found the going rather difficult against the physical opponents. But it all changed when centre-back Andy hoofed a great long ball upfield from his own half. The ball met with an wicked deflection off the opposition defender and sailed past his bewildered goalkeeper. 1-1! Midfielder Becky hailed this masterclass of a strike, and proclaimed Andy as "the saviour"
Having opened the accounts, Unknowns were not going to be denied. Striker Jianhua broke free from the offside trap and found himself one-to-one with the goalkeeper. As cool as a cucumber, he deftly lobbed the ball over the despairing goalie for the lead. 2-1!
In the dying seconds of the match, winger Jason made the scoreline safe. Receiving the ball out wide on the left flank, he let fly an unstoppable, trademark stinger that we've all grown accustomed to seeing. Needless to say, the opposition goalie's chances saving such a shot was equivalent to Derby's chances of avoiding relegation this season.

Normal service resumes for Unknowns
Unknowns got back to business this morning with a comprehensive 5-0 walloping of Guangyang Alumni school team.
Unknowns dominated proceedings from the start, and it was only a matter of time before the floodgates opened. The first goal finally came when Boon Guan broke free down the left flank and centred the ball for midfield general Apple, who blasted a shot that flew in via a deflection.
An inch perfect through ball by Becky opened things up for Randy, who made no mistake with a composed finish. Unknowns thus took a comfortable 2-0 lead into the break.
In the second half, midfielder Becky scored a goal to make it 3-0. Leslie delivered a great pass to Jianhua who finished from close range to make it four. Becky scored another goal in the dying minutes to wrap up a convincing victory.

Comeback kings Unknowns win 4-2
Comeback Kings Unknowns United pulled off yet another remarkable feat to register their first ever win at Peihwa this morning.
Down two-nil in the first half, Unknowns displayed tremendous fighting spirit to launch a smash-and-hit raid in the second half to plunder four goals past the shell-shocked opposition
Striker Zhenrong, who has not been getting the rub of the green in front of goal recently, announced his return to goalscoring form in spectacular fashion by grabbing a hatrick.
Prior to the match, Peihwa had been sort of a bogey ground for Unknowns, who could only muster two draws here. True to form, Unknowns fell behind by two goals in the first half, no thanks to some bad refereeing.
Former SAFFC Prime League Number one goalie Jason urged the team on during the half time team talk, reminding the Unknowns that every game Barclays Sunday Premier League needs to be taken seriously.
Under the sweltering hot sun, the Unknowns upped the tempo once the second half began. Not long after, midfielder Apple sent a superb through ball that his brother Jianhua dummied into the path of Zhenrong, who made no mistake. 1-2!
Apple then floated in a delightful cross which Zhenrong chested with perfection and struck a beautiful goal past the China-born goalkeeper. 2-2!!
Having gotten the equaliser, Unknowns were full of confidence and in full flow by now. Winger Botak sent in a world class, pinpoint, defence splitting cross of total precision that Zhenrong finished with aplomb. 3-2!
In between, goalkeeper Jason pulled off a top-drawer, one handed diving save to keep the lead.
In the final minutes, Yuanji latched onto a great through ball and although his first touch slightly let him down, he recovered immediately to ram the ball past the despairing keeper to delight all punters who had marked 6 goals and Unknowns -1 1/2 goals on their SGPOOLS ticket. 4-2!
Like many before them, today's opposition discovered to their dismay that no lead against the Unknowns is safe. Unknowns had previously mounted spectacular fightbacks on numerous occasions. Such as the one in Admiralty when they were down by a goal and down to 9men but miraculously scored two goals to win 2-1.

Unknowns held to 1-1 draw at Peihwa
This morning at Peihwa, the marauding Unknowns created a galore of glorious chances and threatened to pound their opponents into submission. However, the team just lacked that element of luck in front of goal, as their opponents escaped with an extremely flattering draw.

Unknowns eke out 2-1 win.
Unknowns managed to eke out a 2-1 victory at the woodgrove secondary pitch this morning, despite not playing anywhere near their best capacity (perhaps suffering from a hangover of yesterday's EPL )
Left winger Jason struck a gem of a goal in the 25th minute to extend his rich goalscoring form to three straight matches. Receiving the ball on the left flank just outside the penalty area, he let fly an audacious bazooka that gave the keeper zero chance whatsoever.
The opposition managed to claw back a goal early in the second half, no thanks to this blogger's disastrous attempt to bring the ball out of defence. Needless to say, the ball was lost to the opposition winger who fired a "was-it-a-cross-or-was-it-a-shot?" that hit his striker's stomach and went in the net for a comical goal.
With the tie firmly in the balance at one apiece, up stepped midfielder becky to score a match-winning (and lunch-winning) goal. It was a goal as good as any. But in order to prevent members of the team from suffering ear cancer, we shall leave it at that. :)

Well lads,It was a well deserved win, we showed plenty of heart to win as a team nowadays. It is really impressive on our records and on paper but like what Jason (GK) said, a good win is not good enough if we let our standards drop for the next game, let alone losing the next game.No matter what, i believe we should look towards performance than resluts. So come, let us continue the good run of results and work hard as a team!Rock on lads!PS: Zhenrong need not be so mindful about the miss, we all do have the habit of failing to impress during big moments, you did a good job on the assist to the 3rd goal still :)

Well, not forgeting the highlight of the day on how the no. 7 actually missed a sitter from abt 5cm from the net... Taking advantage of the arrogance of self-proclaimed EPL goalie, the no. 7 intecepted the ball when the goalie attempted to perform his 5 million pound worth of skills just in front of his no-man land, the no. 7 was clear on goal with the crowd boo-ing off the goalie... here come the stunner, he sidefoot the ball out for a goalkick , rediverting the crowd boo-ing to himself. What a sportsman to return the ball to the embarassed goalie..... this should hog the headlines till the nxt howler...

Five star Unknowns move top of table
Unknowns United put up a convincing display as they pummelled 5 goals without reply to move top of the Barclays Sunday Soccer League Table. Teamwork was the order of the day as Jason, Jianhua, Hanwei and Zhenrong (2) shared the goals. It was the Unknowns' 10th win in their last 13 outings, with only a solitary defeat during that period.
What made this win even sweeter was that the opposition were no slouches. They fielded a starting 11 of mainly Malay players and looked very mobile and comfortable both on and off the ball . But the unknowns patiently absorbed their attacks and countered well to deliver five sucker punches.
Quote of the day:
The opposition left so much space behind their backline, those acres of grass patches could have fed a cow fat.
-goalie Jason, on the opposition's fragile backline.
Special mention of the day: (warning, may cause severe distress and trauma to most readers. Do get ready your ear plugs)
The fourth goal scored by midfield hardman Becky was the pick of the day. Receiving a pass at the halfway line, Becky sauntered up field and cut inside his hapless marker with a sharp feint, before plundering a spell-binding 30 metre piledriver which left the opposition goalie wondering what on earth hit him.

Unknowns gave their title aspirations a massive shot in the arm as they edged out a classic seven goal thriller against the defending Barclays Sunday Premier League champions: Geylang Reserves, at the Springfield Secondary Pitch this morning.
The reigning champions signalled their intent to win this much-hyped clash by fielding a strong team comprising of mainly fleet-footed Malay players. The opposition drew first blood when a swift counter-attack in the 3rd minute caught this blogger napping. He was subsequently too slow to clear the danger, allowing the opponent to poke the ball into an empty net.
However, the team responded excellently to this early setback. Sherman, Jason, Zhenrong and Apple plundered four superb strikes to send Unknowns into the halftime break with a 4-2 lead.
As Geylang piled on the pressure in the second half, goalkeeper Yingjie pulled off a stunning flying save off a free-kick that had looked destined for the top corner of the net. Geylang did manage to pull back a goal in the second half but to no avail.
It was a rather bruising encounter as midfield generals Becky and Apple suffered horrific knocks (in the Eduardo category) to their family jewel and ankle respectively.
All in all, The entire team played outstandingly, except for this blogger who was exploited on several occasions.
24 Feb.
A severely depleted unknowns squad grit their teeth and ground out a massive 3-1 win at Northview Secondary Pitch to remain firmly in contention for the barclays Sunday Premier League title (Registered Trademark) .
Missing a host of players through either injury, illness, Ns, work commitments and batam *** trips, the patched up unknowns team dedicated the win to injured winger Botak. Goalkeeper Jason put up a series of gravity-defying saves late in the game to protect the unknown's lead.
In the aftermath of the game, the portable drinks seller uncle paid tribute to the Unknowns. He told the media: "I have been following their fortunes closely for over more than a year now and I have to say they are one of the top teams around." Hopefully, on account of the above, he will be able to give us a discount on 100plus drinks next time.
Quoteworthy:
An opposing midfielder: Quick challenge him for the ball! He's confused!
Particular Unknowns Midfielder: Confused your D****!! (censored)
17 Feb.
At the Yio Chu Kang Secondary Pitch, the undermanned Unknowns saw just 11 players wearing the famed blue nike jersey and were even reduced to 10 men at the midway point after Botak's unfortunate injury. However the remaining players fought like lions (according to midfield hardman Becky) as they clung on for dear life, as well as a slender 1 goal lead. But Unknowns' hearts were broken 2 minutes from the time as the opposition struck a cruel equaliser. Final score 1-1.
3 Feb.
Perhaps unfamiliar with the lush artificial grass pitch at Orchid park secondary, Unknowns fell to a narrow 0-1 defeat against some tough opposition. It was Unknown's first loss after a tremendous 8 game unbeaten streak (during which we won 7 and drew 1)
27 Jan.
Unknowns saw 17 players turn up for this match (possibly the highest attendance in quite a while). With plenty of fresh legs to rotate around, Unknowns strolled to a comfortable 3-0 victory at the Sengkang Secondary Pitch
20 Jan.
Unknowns travelled to the west to do battle at west spring secondary (Choa Chu Kang) and showed no signs of Car-lag as they overcame a very skilful and speedy all-malay team by a goal to nil.
13 Jan.
Unknowns entertained the Chong Boon Alumni team at the Northview Sec Pitch. Unknowns boasted of several former Chong Boon starlets as well such as Apple, Becky, Andy and they were eager to put one over their seniors from the Alumni team. Final Score: 3-1 to the unknowns.
Tongue in cheek:
unknowns are on a run of 8 wins, 2 draws and 1 defeat in their last 11 matchs. If we take away the 0-1 defeat at orchid park sec's artificial grass pitch, we are unbeaten in 10 games. As the saying goes, real men play on real grass. So there. =P

By Jianhua (my apologies for late posting)
Happy Birthday to our fantastico keeps.Indeed we nearly ended the year with a sore note, considering United lost and we have absolutely no resistance towards the powerful midfield in the 1st Half.2nd half came with all guns blazing and personally im in guilt for missing a great chance to level the match, kudos to Sherman who has been playing out of his skin this days to save the blushes.Come this weekend, as Unknowns unite for the first time in the year, lets get things right and make it 44 matches and counting for the illusive unbeaten streak!P.S. Do refrain from over eating during Snow Crab Showdown :PCome on lads!

Post match analysis by Unknowns custodian "Jais".
Slack defending almost end Unknowns record. Perhaps affected by Manyoo's lost the day before, many of the players played with little motivation and vigour, allowing AK 47 to dominate large parts of the game, especially in midfield, where their 2 central midfielders ran the show for them. First half, Becky and Gabby had a tough time chasing shadows, and the former gave the ball away many times.Half time talks involved telling/reminding the team that their manyoo are not out of title race yet, and they turn out for 2nd half hungrier and more motivated(Haha). Slick moves allowed Unknowns to create afew chances and one of which churned out a well-crafted equalizer, made by gabby, finished by sherman. Becky also asserted himself more and finished the game with credit. Special mention to sherman who played well and took his chances with panache. I was kept busy in the 1st half and a better 2nd half from the team reduced my job to just taking goalkicks and free kicks. So well done guys, carry it on into the next game, and 45 game is within sight!
