HAppy New Year Unknowns! COme the New year will be a greater year for us in preparation for the Big game.. Vision, Mission and OBJ: 45 matches not to lose any single matches! p:s: Not to forget there will be a grand celebration on JANUARY 12 where the LOOPHOLE is celebrating his 24th of his life! HAHA. SRI LANKA CRABS, you said it you meant it! JUST DO IT!

Unknowns 2-2 Ak 47

In the final game of the 2007 season, Unknowns United put up a battling performance to earn a well-deserved draw against AK47.

In a previous match at Anderson some way back in september, AK47 showed their determination in coming from behind to earn a 1-1 draw with the unknowns..this time, it was the unknowns who displayed some grit of their own, clawing back twice after conceding early in each half.

Having conceded early in the game through a corner, recent signing Hairif justified his transfer fee when he rifled in a spectacular equaliser in the first half to make it 1-1 .

In the second half, following an early penalty set back, Sherman struck another equaliser to make it 2-2 in a evenly matched contest.

Wishing all unknowns players a Happy New Year and good health in the year ahead

Becky Tan played more like a relieved man than his usual style, perhaps feeling lucky to have escaped a ban for his sending off. He got a shot canonned off the cross bar, which on another day, would have crept in instead. Showed grumpy faces to everyone after the game. Pick youself up, Becky!

Unknowns win 2-1 for four on the trot

Unknowns continued its strong recent revival as it racked up its 4th straight win today at the Admiralty Stadium.

During the post match interview, veteran striker Kevin was jubilant after the win but hoped that the team would guard against complacency in upcoming matches.

Unknowns deadly strike duo

Unknowns striker Zhenrong, scorer of two magnificent goals in the gritty 9 men performance last week said:
Any replay to that memorable goal? FA to improve the technologies of games too!

Strike partner Kevin said:
I would have imagine if we had a crowd cheering on, after we bounced back, with one man down and a goal down. Little would count on the Unknowns to hit back in such magnificent manner! Well done lads, it was outright, disgustingly great spirit last Sunday!Bring it on this coming weekend!

FA decision

Having reviewed the incident thoroughly, The FA has decided not to suspend Unknowns midfielder Becky for any upcoming matches.

A spokesperson from the FA said:
"Having viewed replays from several angles, we decided there was nothing malicious in the tackles. We took into account that it was two yellow card offences and not a direct sending off, and the slippery pitch may have played a part.

During an interview, Becky was adamant that he would not change his physical style in future games, as it is a key element in his game.

In another interview, unknowns forward Kevin supported Becky, saying he did it for the team.

Appeal

Unknowns combative midfielder Becky has lodged an appeal with the FA over his sending off during a 2-1 win at Admiralty on 9 Nov. Becky said: The red card was not on reasonable grounds! The FA has to look into it and give an acceptable answer!

Exclusive News Coverage

In light of the fracas that occured recently, residents of Ang Mo Kio Avenue 10 will be pleased to discover that one of the town's Key Installations (KINS) - the Teck Ghee street soccer court, is well patrolled by a group of voluntary MATAS.

These MATAS patrol the area 24 hours a day, clad in black shorts and topless. Their means of transportation is the traditional, trusty, ever-reliable bicycle. On two wheels, they work tirelessly in helping to keep the court safe. The court is their livelihood as they play football there everyday with the aim of eventually playing in the S-league. They do not wish for any incidents to occur that would incur the involvement of the Singapore Police Force.

We at the UNKNOWNS would like to express our most sincere and heart felt gratitude to these self-sacrificing MATAS.

Good Sunday

Unknowns finally got the win they craved for weeks. It was a comprehensive 6-0 victory and a decent performance all round the squad. Goals came from Botak (2), Jianhua, Hanwei, and Boon Guan (2).

On the medical front, Zhengrong has been making good progress recovering from his injured arm.

The next week will be an international break. Several players have been called up for overseas duty and thus there will be no game.

Have fun working/studying/serving country in the meantime!

Hi all, 1st of all i would like to apologise for i made a few errors in the team selection yesterdae.
its always hard to play in unfamiliar positions..however i believe the switches somehow freshen things up.i guess no1 has gt complaints for yesterdae results. we stiffen things up at the back in the 2nd half abit though they still have got quite a few chances but at least i can see the effort from many which is the most important i suppose. So keep up the good wrk, dont be discouraged!!!

Oh ya, midfield was pretty hardworking yesterdae..but i guess we still got to wrk on the passes and the communication more..strikers did pretty well also in terms of creating chances and passing the ball around..so overall i tink we did better in consideration that we did not play for 2 weeks and started off with a wrong combi for the line up...

Tinky said: No need to apologize lah..The changes were made for the benefit of the team , so I believe the lads are fully behind it no matter the result.

Unknowns 3-3 The Reds

Unknowns clawed back from a disastrous start to earn a creditable 3-3 draw against the reds, courtesy of a stunning hat-trick from baby-faced assassin kevin.

It was the unknowns' fourth consecutive draw but the team can take heart from the fact that they managed to successfully mount a comeback from a horrendous opening two minutes in which they conceded two goals.

Unknowns had failed to taste victory in their last three matches and decided to freshen things up by experimenting with a number of players in different positions to try and maximise their strengths.

However, as with football and any sport, every team needs a period of time to adjust to new tactics. The reds took advantage to race to a two goal lead. It looked like a massacre was on the cards.

However, the unknowns began to settle down and soon found their feet. Kevin pulled one back in the 20th minute with an opportunistic strike. However, the reds extended their lead just before half time. 1-3.

The reds began to tire in the second half under the sweltering weather as the Unknowns stepped up a gear. In the 62nd minute, Yuanji supplied a brilliant cross from the right and Kevin was in the right place at the right time to smash home an unstoppable shotfrom close range. The fightback was complete when in the 75th minute, Kevin produced a duplicate effort after another superb cross, this time from sherman.

Although there might have been no victory for the past four games, but Unknowns are undefeated in the last five. It all depends on which way you want to look at the half-filled glass.

Hi Lads,Well i guess what ping mentioned is the lack of confidence in a few of the players, what many of the us can do is be the 2nd pair of eyes of one another, try to ensure that we are all being watched over during the game and take control of our emotions, dont let loose comments or expression that will influence and affect each individual feelings. It has been a mini slump for most part of the months but we do have glipmse of what we can do to opponents.Have faith and move on from dissapointment and grow from our lessons yup!All the best to our giggsy dispy Jason! I'll see u in the penalty box come next month when u are released! :)Till we meet again lads...

hey lads, im back..guess some of you are kinda down with some of the recent results that we've been gettin. Its nice to see tat because at least some of you recognize the fact that you are betta than how u played on the pitch, but thats not the end, because im confident with whoever is in the unknowns family will be able to turn the tables around towards our favour. Just have more confidence in yourself and have faith in your teammates, because soccer is about 11 players helpin out each other. Its never abt captain marvel or any single 1 else.Do not exert unneccesary pressure on yourself to perform although i encourage personal goal setting per game. Just relax and enjoy, anyway the main motive for sunday soccer is to enjoy the game, get together and chitchat man..Rest assure the tide will change once we pick up the confidence that we need and the faith we place on each other. Meanwhile we'll be missin Left Wing general Jason for a game..hopefully..haha..but we'll see how things go.Till we meet again eh..

Unknowns held to 1-1 draw

Unknowns United welcomed the return of Diehard Man Andy Loh Chu Jie from injury, as well as prodigy striker Sherman from National Service, in a match that ended with a 1-1 draw at the Anderson Stadium this morning.

Unknowns conceded the first goal midway through the second half. But repeatedly piled on the pressure and spent much time camping in the opponent's half. In the 78th minute, they were finally rewarded when Sherman unleashed a thunderous piledriver from outside the box that left the keeper grasping thin air.

Late in the game, Captain Marvel Apple had a glorious chance to snatch victory when he broke free and faced the opposition keeper one-on-one. He spotted the galloping run of Hanwei by his side and unselfishly released the ball to him. Unfortunately, the referee ruled it as an offside. Without the help of television replays, it was hard to tell if the referee made the right call.

Following last week's fracas at the Admiralty, at least today's match was played in good spirit.

Brainless Bengs spoils our Sunday

Unknowns United FC 0
Brainless Bengs 0

Admiralty Stadium, 26/08/2007

Unknowns United were held to a goalless draw by the Brainless Bengs in a match marred by ill-discipline and rash challenges from the Brainless Bengs.

Unknowns custodian Kaiyang pulled off an astounding save in the 24th minute. Brainless Bengs took a quick freekick while Kaiyang was standing at his right post trying to organise his defensive wall. The powerful attempt looked to be headed for the bottom left hand corner of Kaiyang's goal. The shot looked destined for goal until Kaiyang miraculously pulled off a one handed diving save to push the ball out for a corner. Remarkable Athletism!

In the 67th minute, Kaiyang came off with an injury. With no reserve goalie on the bench, towering rightback Vincent took over the gloves and proved more than equal to the task with a superb save from close range!

In the 85th minute, Brainless Bengs lived up to their name by displaying high maturity levels of 3 month old babies. They clearly mistook the soccer field for a boxing ring as they provoked the Unknowns and challenged several unknowns players to fight. Fortunately, the unknowns were educated and civilised citizens and did not respond to the taunts to start a brawl. But Jason, Guoliang had to endure blows. Credit to the both of them for having the maturity to restrain themselves. Sad to say, despite Singapore's efforts to become a 1st world country, barbarians still exist in the city.

On a personal note, having witnessed the childishness of the likes of Brainless Bengs' number 16, aka Coconut Face. I will be more tolerant of primary school kid's behaviour in school from now on.

Lads, in a matter of hours, we will be heading to our favourite hunting ground, Admiralty Sec School.Injuries and other commitments may have left the team rather lightweight but i am definitely sure we will "up the level" and enjoy the beautiful game on sunday.A point to note would be that we are tighter at the back last week and firing on all cylinders but still plenty of chances missed (which i personnally spurned a few)and silly mistakes made. Worth a mention is the determination to end the frustrating streak that we had. So lets pick it up from here and make last week's hard work pay more dividends yup!

Unknowns bounce back in emphatic fashion

Article contributed by: Anonymous fan of Unknowns

Unknowns United 7
(Zhenrong 3rd min, Kevin 48th, 61st, Yuanji 53rd, Apple 65th, hanwei 78th, Roy 83rd)

Bedok Rovers 1

Unknowns United bounced back from a two match losing streak in emphatic fashion by posting a 7-1 victory this morning.

Punters who daringly plonked their cash on total goals of eight at Singaporepools betting outlets were promptly rewarded when it rained goals at the Bedok reformative stadium.

After two consecutive disappointing defeats, Unknowns badly needed a good performance and a good result. They were raring to go, determined to get off to a good start early in the game.

Striker Zhenrong gave the Unknowns exactly what they wanted when he slipped thru the offside trap with a terrific burst of pace that left him with just the keeper to beat. The hapless custodian had no chance whatsoever and Zhenrong's typical cool and clinical finish gave Unknowns the lead.

Bolstered by the early goal, Unknowns grew in confidence and gradually began to dominate proceedings in the first half, albeit against an admittedly disorganized opposition.
However, they lacked just that little bit of luck as they failed to make a number of gilt-edged chances count. The opposition punished the Unknowns when they pulled back a goal out of nowhere and against the run of play to make it 1-1.

To make matters worse, lightning-quick right-full back Alvin Alves suffered a knee injury and taken off the pitch. Coupled with the two demoralising defeats possibly playing in the back of their minds, most critics would have expected Unknowns to fold and crumble.

But the Unknowns continued to plug away and were duly rewarded with a deluge of goals in the second half with no less than five different Unknowns players finding the net. Goalpoacher Kevin (two goals), dynamic left winger Yuanji, Captain Marvel Apple, midfield marshaller Hanwei and rock solid stopper Roy all scored in an impressive second half display.

Hanwei revelled in his new role deep in the heart of midfield. He spent much of the morning sitting just in front of the defence to protect the back three in order to allow attacking midfielders Jason and Gabriel to concentrate on offensive duties. He took one shot all morning, but it was a screamer that soared into the top righthand corner of the net, reminding fans of his shooting powress.

Particularly worthy of mention was the seventh and final goal. Defender Roy demonstrated great stamina and mental resolve by foraging all the way upfield to support the attack. It was a two on one with Kevin and Roy against the goalie. Kevin's initial shot was seemingly headed for goal yet suspiciously looked to be going slightly wide, but Roy took no chances and was right in position to ram the ball home for his first ever goal as an unknowns player.

Unknowns Number 1 custodian WingHoe was an imposing figure in goal as usual. His commanding presence will be sorely missed as he will be absent for the next few matches due to study commitments

Overall, it was a fine team display by the unknowns.

unknowns lose 2nd consecutive game

Unknowns 1-2 New Chap Pa Lang Fc (now with jersey)

Unknowns seldom lose twice in a row, but they fell to their second straight defeat in as many weeks at the admiralty stadium last sunday.

Unknowns had emerged victorious in two previous meetings with CPL FC, but a hat trick was not to be. With a depleted squad of only eleven players and no substitutes to call upon, Unknowns battled gallantly against stiff opposition, who had as many as 16 to 18 players to choose from.
Having fallen behind 2-0, "captain marvel" Apple raised hopes with a goal in the 70th minute . Bringing the ball out of his own half, the rampaging defender stormed upfield and exchanged passes with several teammates before stabbing the ball home from close range.
Unknowns dominated the remaining minutes of the match, but was unable to find an equaliser.
Unknowns will hope to stop the rout with a fine display at Yishun this coming Sunday12th August.

This is to inform that there will be a cable ski session at batam on one of the sunday. Date to be confirm. Cost per pax is $80 inclusive of ferry and lunch and cable ski. It is very fun and confirm thrilling. Thus there should not be any game on that day. This is just a get together for all the people who always work and work and no time to get a life and also a chance to get to know each other esp for those who join us recently. It is also good time to mingle with one another. Just a thought, pls try to improve your own fitness since you guys are out of the army and many seems to have run of breathe just the first 15 mins of the game we seen at serangoon stadium. Even though u all might think that gym training is useless but u all are wrong, it is the best way to improve individual muscle strength and endurance esp with weights and cardio trainings. Pls pls spare a thought for ur own body. Rem onething, what you are now is a result of what u eat and the type of activity you do. Skills alone is not the deciding factor in determining whether you are better than others, it simply means your motor skills are better but what if your fitness sux??? think of it this way, You have got a CLass 2 bike but what if you cannot handle it not becos you dun have the skills but your physical limits you from doing it. SO what i am trying to emphasis here is that everyone is Unknowns have to play there own part to improve their fitness level. Who cares in future be it a Olympic stadium??? We will still be able to run like no otherone can catch our ass or the slogan "Put you 10 lamp posts" den can be realised. No action talk only is nothing but Bullshit! So guys pls do something today!!

Unsporting opponents marred Sunday outing

Misters United walked out of their match against the Unknowns at the spacious Serangoon stadium on Sunday morning, citing reasons that they "didn't want to get into a brawl"

Up until the 70th minute, the game was physical but generally played in good spirit with the exception of a few minor conflicts that was to be expected of any football game. Unknowns drew first blood with a classic goal by Kevin, but the Misters clawed back to take a slender 2-1 lead through firstly a fluke equaliser, and then some utterly disastrous and disgusting and crap defending from yours sincerely (Han Ting) allowed the Misters to take a rather undeserved advantage.

With the tie still firmly in the balance, the sequence of events to follow were totally unexpected and bizarre. In a totally shocking demonstration of poor sportsmanship, the unsporting Misters simply walked off the pitch one by one following a minor scuffle with a few of the unknowns players, ala Thailand Vs Singapore at the recent Asean Cup 2006. One of the ill-disciplined misters even had the audacity to kick the ball far away and taunted Unknowns Apple to pick it up.

To his credit, Apple did not respond to the needless taunt, and the unknowns kept their heads and remained on the pitch, in the hope that the Misters would return after they cooled down. However, even though the hapless referee tried his best to cajole the rather childish misters into returning to the game, it was all to be in vain. The misters gave absurd reasons such as "they did not want to fight" (which they would probably lose anyway).

A good Sunday outing was thus marred by the irresponsible and ungentlemenly Misters, who displayed sheer disregard and disrespect to the beautiful game.

Unknowns 2-0 XXX FC

Unknowns United defeated XXX FC 2-0 in this latest game played at the Old Admiralty on 8th July, Sunday. Midfielder Gabby celebrated his return from a 6 month layoff due to injury by scoring a magnificent goal with his first touch of the ball. He reacted first and pounced on the rebound to bang in the goal after Hanwei's thunderous drive on goal was parried away by the keeper. On-form striker Zhenrong converted a spot-kick late in the game to seal the win after strike partner Kevin was hacked down inside the 6 yard box. Another impressive performance all-round by the Unknowns team.

Unknowns veteran striker Kevin said in the post match interview that he was exhilarated with Gabby's return to fitness. "He had a very good game...good comeback..his touches might have been abit rusty at times but overall he did well."

Botak Birthday Celebrations dampened by absurd customer service

Botak's 25th birthday celebration last saturday was supposed to be a most joyous event. But it was nearly ruined by some ridiculously bad service from a particular zhi-char stall located near Meridian Hotel. (we are not naming this stall in order to give it another chance, in the hope that it will change for the better)

About a dozen members of the Unknowns squad turned up to celebrate Botak's birthday, and we headed to the stall for dinner and placed our orders. The stall whipped up the dishes and they were served to us promptly, but somehow the rice was nowhere to be seen. The most basic staple food was curiously absent from the table. We were told by the waitress that they were facing a shortage of rice (probably due to the fact that world war three was looming and rice was in scarce supply) We were repeatedly made to wait, and wait, and wait for the rice. It was most bizarre that a zhi-char stall didn't prepare enough rice in anticipation of a bustling saturday night turn-out.

Deciding that there was no use complaining, we decided to accept things as they were. We made a small request for the remaining dishes to be served only after the rice is ready. However our request fell on deaf ears. The dishes kept coming despite the fact that the rice was nowhere in sight. To make matters worse, the hotplates were not hot at all.

Temperatures were threatening to boil over by now, and the last straw finally came when the waitress actually had the atrocity to taunt us by saying in mandarin: chi de zhe me bu kai xin? (translation: eat until so unhappily?)

Had it been another group of people, the stall would have been in need of a major renovation by today. However, the unknowns players, being gentlemen, decided to let things go.

Latest team news for 24 June 2007 match

Latest news has filtered in that Unknowns will be missing the services of 1st choice goal keeper "Pepe" reina aka Winghoe this sunday, his absence is a huge worry as the club will be left without any recognized goalkeeper.

Midfield marshaller Hanwei will miss this sunday's match as he will be flying Tioman for some personal commitments. Defender Andy Loh will also miss the match due to a recurring injury suffered in last week's win over Parkbus FC.

Long term injury victims Gabriel and Kaiyang will once again sit out of the match.

Zijie injured on comeback match

Bad news for all fans and supporters of the Unknowns. Star centerback Zijie is unfortunately injured again.

Back on the pitch after a 3 week absence, Zijie played about 30 minutes of the game against Parkbus FC. However his injury was aggravated and he was pulled off at half time.

However, though he was unable to be on the pitch, he was seen urging the team on and shouting instructions and encouraging words from the sidelines. Zijie truly epitomizes the spirit of the Unknowns. His continued absence will be a severe blow to the team.

More details will be updated about his injury as soon as the club doctors produce his medical report.

Unknowns battled to a 2-0 victory over tough negative opponents!

17 June 07
Reported by: Han Ting

Unknowns United - 2 {Own Goal (65min), Bai (78min)}
Park-Bus FC - 0

At the Anderson Stadium last Sunday, Unknowns United were up against Park-Bus FC. The opponents lived up to their name and indeed brought along a double-decker bus and promptly parked it in front of their goal mouth. Throughout the entire game, they defended negatively and at times threw 11 men behind the ball in the hope of earning a creditable draw against the mighty unknowns. However, the unknowns were too good for them. Unknowns attacked patiently, wore them down, and scored twice in the second half for a well-deserved victory.
Unknowns signalled their intention to play attacking football right from the start and came out with a offensive 3-4-3 formation in an attempt to unlock the opponent's stubborn defense early in the game. Zhenrong returned after last week's absence to partner the Kevin and Sherman in a venomous three-pronged attack. Winger Botak was shifted in the partner Hanwei in the middle of the park with Jason and Yuanji on the flanks. Alvin, Apple and HanTing formed the backthree with Winghoe commanding in between the posts behind.
However, the slight drizzle and the rather slippery pitch combined with the frustating tactics of the negative opposition meant the unknowns were unable to play their usual sleek passing game to a certain extent.
Unknowns made a tactical change in the middle of the first half, bringing on central defenders Nick and Andy for widemen Jason and Yuanji. Sherman dropped back to the left side of midfield and botak was pushed out wide right. Apple moved up to join Hanwei in the central midfield. Han Ting and Alvin became the fullbacks. The tactical versatility of the unknowns was clear for all to see.
In the 35th minute, ParkBus Fc won a penalty after some indecisive defending by Han Ting allowed Parkbus burly striker to gain posession and he barged his way through on goal. He was eventually bundled inside the box and the referee blew for a penalty.
The burly striker stepped up to take the spot kick amidst chants of "Arh Kar" from the crowd. Perhaps he was affected by the chants thus lost concentration as he skiied his shot wide. The half ended at a goaless stalemate.
Having just recovered from injury, Zijie was taken off during half time. Vincent replaced to partner Apple and Nick as Unknowns reverted back to 3-4-3. ParkBus Fc refused to come out of their shells in the 2nd half. However, in the 65th minute, in the midst of a tussle for the ball at near the halfway line, Parkbus FC accidentally cleared the ball the wrong way as it flew all the way towards their own goal mouth and sailed into the net for a freakish own goal. 1-0 to the Unknowns!
Unknowns were flowing by now, 13 minutes later, Shiwen's header was latched on by Bai and he calmly slotted it through the legs of the keeper. 2-0 to the unknowns!
Parkbus were dead and buried. Moral of the story: negative football doesn't pay.Justice prevailed as the Unknowns entertained with their positive and enterprising play and got the deserved result
As usual, the talking point of the game was once again the controversial referee, who failed to stamp his authority on the match.

Coming after last week's 2-1 win at Admiralty, this was Unknowns second win in a row. By the looks of it, the run won't be stopping anytime soon.
