Unknowns gave their title aspirations a massive shot in the arm as they edged out a classic seven goal thriller against the defending Barclays Sunday Premier League champions: Geylang Reserves, at the Springfield Secondary Pitch this morning.
The reigning champions signalled their intent to win this much-hyped clash by fielding a strong team comprising of mainly fleet-footed Malay players. The opposition drew first blood when a swift counter-attack in the 3rd minute caught this blogger napping. He was subsequently too slow to clear the danger, allowing the opponent to poke the ball into an empty net.
However, the team responded excellently to this early setback. Sherman, Jason, Zhenrong and Apple plundered four superb strikes to send Unknowns into the halftime break with a 4-2 lead.
As Geylang piled on the pressure in the second half, goalkeeper Yingjie pulled off a stunning flying save off a free-kick that had looked destined for the top corner of the net. Geylang did manage to pull back a goal in the second half but to no avail.
It was a rather bruising encounter as midfield generals Becky and Apple suffered horrific knocks (in the Eduardo category) to their family jewel and ankle respectively.
All in all, The entire team played outstandingly, except for this blogger who was exploited on several occasions.

A severely depleted unknowns squad grit their teeth and ground out a massive 3-1 win at Northview Secondary Pitch to remain firmly in contention for the barclays Sunday Premier League title (Registered Trademark) .
Missing a host of players through either injury, illness, Ns, work commitments and batam *** trips, the patched up unknowns team dedicated the win to injured winger Botak. Goalkeeper Jason put up a series of gravity-defying saves late in the game to protect the unknown's lead.
In the aftermath of the game, the portable drinks seller uncle paid tribute to the Unknowns. He told the media: "I have been following their fortunes closely for over more than a year now and I have to say they are one of the top teams around." Hopefully, on account of the above, he will be able to give us a discount on 100plus drinks next time.
Quoteworthy:
An opposing midfielder: Quick challenge him for the ball! He's confused!
Particular Unknowns Midfielder: Confused your D****!! (censored)

At the Yio Chu Kang Secondary Pitch, the undermanned Unknowns saw just 11 players wearing the famed blue nike jersey and were even reduced to 10 men at the midway point after Botak's unfortunate injury. However the remaining players fought like lions (according to midfield hardman Becky) as they clung on for dear life, as well as a slender 1 goal lead. But Unknowns' hearts were broken 2 minutes from the time as the opposition struck a cruel equaliser. Final score 1-1.

Perhaps unfamiliar with the lush artificial grass pitch at Orchid park secondary, Unknowns fell to a narrow 0-1 defeat against some tough opposition. It was Unknown's first loss after a tremendous 8 game unbeaten streak (during which we won 7 and drew 1)

Unknowns saw 17 players turn up for this match (possibly the highest attendance in quite a while). With plenty of fresh legs to rotate around, Unknowns strolled to a comfortable 3-0 victory at the Sengkang Secondary Pitch

Unknowns travelled to the west to do battle at west spring secondary (Choa Chu Kang) and showed no signs of Car-lag as they overcame a very skilful and speedy all-malay team by a goal to nil.

Unknowns entertained the Chong Boon Alumni team at the Northview Sec Pitch. Unknowns boasted of several former Chong Boon starlets as well such as Apple, Becky, Andy and they were eager to put one over their seniors from the Alumni team. Final Score: 3-1 to the unknowns.
Tongue in cheek:
unknowns are on a run of 8 wins, 2 draws and 1 defeat in their last 11 matchs. If we take away the 0-1 defeat at orchid park sec's artificial grass pitch, we are unbeaten in 10 games. As the saying goes, real men play on real grass. So there. =P
